AO-SF procedure

The AO-SF support procedure (Ausbildungsordnung, Sonderpädagogische Förderung) is an official procedure in North Rhine-Westphalia to determine whether a pupil has special educational needs and to what extent special support is required. It is necessary if school support options are not sufficient and the child needs special help due to a disability or a learning or developmental delay. The procedure includes the preparation of a special educational needs assessment in which parents, teachers and the school supervisory authority are involved.
