Parents and schools

Example: "Parents and schools - strong together" project with RuhrFutur gGmbh

"Schools and parents work together as partners in the realization of educational goals" (NRW School Act § 2 Para. 3). The city of Bochum has set itself the goal of implementing this legal mandate even better. In 2017-2021, it took part in the project "Parents and schools: strong together!".

The project sponsor was RuhrFutur gGmbh in cooperation with the Ministry of Schools and Education of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the state-wide coordination office for municipal integration centers. The project was funded by Stiftung Mercator.

The project was based on the formulated needs of the schools and took into account key scientific findings on the potential for better parental involvement. At the same time, it focused on the motivations for a good education, which are present in all parents to a greater or lesser extent. The aim was to reach parents better and involve them more closely. A multidimensional project approach was required to achieve these goals.

In the course of the project, measures were implemented in a number of schools in Bochum and the Bochum Education Network developed a mission statement "Education and Educational Partnership".

The result was the Bochum concept "Parents and schools - strong together", which still guides the work of the Regional Education Network today and serves as its basis.

Municipal concept "Parents and school - strong together!"
