Experience music - right from the start
The Bochum Music School is one of the largest music schools in Germany and a central location for cultural education in the city. Since 1967, it has been offering people of all ages the opportunity to discover, learn and create music together.
Diversity for all generations
From babies in the parent-child course to primary school children in the JeKits program and adults in the orchestra - around 9,000 pupils take advantage of the wide range of courses on offer every week. Classes are held at over 100 locations throughout Bochum - close to home and inclusive.
Individual and professional
More than 140 qualified teachers support talents individually - from the first note to stage maturity. The offer ranges from classical instrumental lessons and digital music production to band projects and choirs.
Open to all
The music school stands for participation: People with disabilities are of course welcome. Social and sibling discounts facilitate access.
More than just lessons
Regular concerts, projects and collaborations with schools, daycare centers and social institutions make the music school a lively cultural venue.

JeKits - Music in Grundschulen
As part of the state program JeKits ("Instruments, Dancing, Singing for Every Child"), the Bochum Music School brings music directly into Grundschulen. In the first year, the focus is on making music together as a class. From the second year onwards, children have the opportunity to learn an instrument of their choice - in a practical, playful and fun way. In this way, musical education is made accessible to everyone at an early age.
