Heritage language lessons (HSU) in Bochum
Language of origin classes are offered free of charge by the state of NRW.
The offer is aimed at pupils who are growing up bilingually or multilingually, i.e. in German and a language of origin.
The HSU in Bochum is currently offered in the following languages:
Arabic, Bosnian, Chinese, Farsi, Greek, Italian, Kurdish, Polish, Russian, Spanish and Turkish.

For the Planning and organization of the HSU In Bochum, the education authority is responsible for the city of Bochum. HSU mainly takes place in the afternoons.
The Teacherswho teach the HSU are employees of the state of NRW. They are native speakers. They are usually employed at several schools.
The HSU teacher certifies attendance and awards a grade from grade 3 onwards. The child's school enters this grade under comments in the Certificate. At the end of secondary level I (10th grade), students complete a Language test in their language of origin from. A good performance in the language test can compensate for a poor performance in a foreign language and thus lead to graduation.
Binding registration for the coming school year can be made via the Form "Registration for lessons in the language of origin". This must be handed in to the respective HSU teacher during HSU lesson times.
Registration obliges students to attend regularly. Deregistration is only possible at the end of the school year for the following school year.
