School entrance examination
Starting school marks the beginning of a new and important stage in a child's life.
As part of the school entry check-up, the health department records health factors that may be important for learning at school and identifies areas for support if there is a need for it.
What is being examined?
The health department checks hearing and eyesight, measures height and weight and carries out a developmental screening. If necessary, a medical examination follows. The aim is to identify any need for support at an early stage - not to assess it.
Where does the examination take place?
In collaboration with cooperating daycare centers, the public health department offers the examination in the familiar environment of the daycare center. Examinations are also carried out at the public health department.
When will the examination take place?
The invitations are staggered. Children who turn six by September 30th start school in August of the same year. The examinations start about a year earlier.
Important to know:
The examination is not a test. No preparation is necessary. The parent or guardian will receive the result by post. If you have any questions, please contact the public health department.
