Ticket (Bogestra) - Deutschlandticket School

The discounted student ticket (currently: DeutschlandTicket Schule) is valid for eligible students throughout Germany on local public transport in 2nd class. It entitles you to any number of journeys both to school and in your free time. There are no time restrictions (use during vacations, at weekends and on public holidays).

Eligibility requirements

In principle, pupils must attend a school run by the city.

The city of Bochum pays the travel costs for these pupils if the shortest walk to the nearest school is

- in classes 1 to 4 longer than 2 km,

- in grades 5 to 10 longer than 3.5 km and

- is longer than 5 km at upper secondary level or Berufskollegs.

The nearest school is the school that can be reached at the lowest cost and in a reasonable amount of time.

Own contribution

The city of Bochum has set a personal contribution for the use of this ticket. This own contribution amounts to:

  • 14.00 euros per month for the first child,

  • 7.00 euros per month for the second child,

  • From the third eligible child onwards, no personal contribution is charged.

A separate contribution of EUR 14.00 per month is set for pupils of full age.

This contribution is to be paid directly to BoGeStra (Bochum-Gelsenkirchener Straßenbahn AG).
